Uhh… whoops.
Wow, today’s morning was rather trying.
I woke up to a flashing alarm clock – that frustrating sign that at some point in the night power was lost. I checked my laptop and I had woken up pretty much on time. Score one for my internal clock!
Then I went to power on my desktop computer and it wouldn’t turn over. Did the power supply get fried somehow? That’s not good – I have neither the time nor the inclination to take my PC apart to find out.
Unsatisfied with accepting that to be the case, I get down on my hands and knees and crawl in the jungle of wires that is the underside of my desk. I probably have more than 20 things plugged into various power strips and a UPS that appears to be very interruptible. After much tugging, unplugging and replugging, I finally get my computer plugged into some place new and it powers up – looks like a breaker was probably flipped somewhere in the mess.
But that’s not the whole story, while crawling around, I managed to pull down my printer from it’s perch about 5.5 feet off the ground. With a respectable crash (at 7:30 in the morning – I bet my neighbors loved that), I looked over just in time to see the thing bounce a good 6″ off the ground and shoot some of it’s parts (ink cartridge cover, paper tray, etc) in various directions.
Guess what… I don’t care.
Today’s been a busy morning even after that. I have a bunch of issues I’m working on and a few meetings today (that I’m not excited about). Blech.
In other news that I alluded to earlier, but didn’t give any details on, I’ve accepted a new position in the QA department. As of the first of the year, I’ll no longer be in the support group, but in the dev group. This has a number of advantages and is exciting for a few reasons.
But for now, I’m going to get my butt back to work since it’s piling up.
I won’t be around that much the next couple of weeks due to moving. I’ll try to respond to any messages, but make no promises.
