TOS Issues – I Wish I Could Help
I just wanted to make sure people knew that I’m no longer handling any TOS-related issues. I would if I could, but I no longer have access to those functions for IAM.
I’ve received a few requests from people in regards to TOS violations, but there’s unfortunately nothing I can do to help. I know that some of you have said that you’ve made multiple queries to the Report a TOS Violation form and sent IMs to people in charge but haven’t received any response yet. Again, I’m sorry, but there’s nothing I can do to help.
One of the reasons the TOS Panel was created was to ensure that complaints were handled in a timely and consistent way. With so many users, it was impossible for one person to handle all of the issues without people (and violations) getting ignored. I’m not sure if any additional access has been granted to other IAM members or not. I would assume not since no official statement has been made – and I would also assume that if someone’s been granted access to our personal data that such a statement should and would be made – especially given the stance that BME & IAM have always held in regards personal freedoms and privacy.
My only suggestion is to continue to send these IMs and submit entries via the TOS Violation form until your issues are resolved. There’s no reason why a valid complaint should go completely ignored. Send messages daily if needed.
Either way, if TOS-related issues continue to be ignored, then something needs to be done in the short term to ensure that they’re upheld and that those in willful violation are dealt with. The systems and tools are in place for a solution to be both simple, without effort and quick.
With a user-base as large as IAM’s, it’s only through self-policing that we can ensure that people abide by the rules and standards of behavior that have defined IAM as a friendly community – rules and standards that every member here has agreed to follow.
I just hate having to tell people that I can’t help them – especially when they’ve already followed the steps that they have been told to take to reach a resolution on these sorts of issues.
