Stress = Seeing Your Loved Ones In Pain
Just as we were leaving for our final jewelry class, we had an accident. It wasn’t something that’s all that uncommon – probably something that happens with a frequency measured in seconds, not hours – Corinne got her finger shut in the door.
Unfortunately, the door is VERY heavy and the part where it shuts has a little lip that makes the end of the door and the frame act like a pair of pliers. When Corinne took her glove off, we could see the bone in her last digit and all of the skin around it was crushed. To say that I was shocked is an unbelievable understatement.
I say this with only the utmost seriousness: seeing the bones of people you care about on the outside of their skin is borderline terrifying.
While the wait is longer than what I would have expected for a wound that’s almost an amputation, the doctor that worked on her was very nice, funny and did an excellent job. I was absolutely amazed at how well everything looked after he was done – especially considering the fact that the tip of her finger looked close to ground beef when I called the ambulance.
I’ll admit that part of me thought it’d be super sexy for her to have a digit missing, it’s totally not worth the pain that I had to watch her go through – especially since she didn’t opt into it.
We naturally missed our last jewelry class (something that bugs us both), but we’re going to see if we can get a little bit of shop time when Corinne’s finger is 100%.
What a stressful evening.
