*up for air*
Well, this week has been simply crazy. I was at work on Monday until about 10:30pm. That wasn’t fun. Today may simply be another super long day too. Blah. At least it’s money in my pocket, right?
So, aside from this ridiculous schedule, work has been going well and as you can see I’m getting more hours and more responsibilities – two good things in terms of your job as long as the pay’s there.
After work I’ve been spending a considerably amout of time working on making this diary entry / image upload script to make it portable and distributable. So, if you like what you’re reading now and the layout and appearant ease of things, then you might be pleasantly pleased when it’s released. Current requirements are PHP 4.0+ (with GD 1.6+ I believe to have the image upload functionality) and access to a mySQL database.
Maybe after this is all squared away I’ll take the time to port all this over to Perl. Shouldn’t be too hard. The DB crap will be a pain in the ass since PHP handles connecting to mySQL DB’s so easily and Perl uses OO programming for those DB connections. Shouldn’t be *too* difficult I don’t think.
Anyhow, that should wrap things up. I gotta get my ass back to work.
Look mommy – I’m glowing…
If you live in the states, you really should check this link out: http://www.mapscience.org/
It’s pretty sick looking at the numbers.
I like my hair… I don’t want it to fall out.
New Ink
Well, I got some more work done on my sleeve. Got the black work done and all taken care of. My arm is mad stingy tonight! I wanted the black done before the wedding so it’s at an intelligent point to take a break since I don’t want the color 1/2 done in the pictures. It just makes sense.
So here’s a few pics to check out. Just note that a lot of the pics look contorted because of how I’m manipulating my arm to take the pics.
Enjoy
Productivity
Well, I’ve been pretty productive the past couple of days. I went through over 200 images that I had taken when in Canada and I submitted almost all of them to BME last night. It was 2 zip files that were over 120megs total. I know .jpgs don’t zip all that well, but when you have that many, it really does help. It just sucks that mail servers are so slow! But the good thing is that mine doesn’t have an upper limit on the size attachments I can send or receive.
Today I picked up a new bag at Newbury Comics since my old one was falling apart. Well, the bag itself is fine, but the zipper is just a mess and doesn’t close 1/2 the time. I’ve had the thing probably over four years so I’d say it was a damn good investment!
I also finished addressing the wedding invitations earlier and they’ll be in the mail tomorrow morning before work. It’s nice to have one more thing crossed off the list!
Sleeve Pause
Well, Kim, my artist, was very sick this weekend and my tat appointment has been changed until this upcoming Sunday, 1/9. I’m not too disappointed, though I’m even more anxious to get the work done! At least I didn’t have to wait another month – which is about how long it is to book her on a weekend!
So, 7 more days and the blackwork will be done on my arm – wheee!
WebCam Go!
Well, the webcam is now back online. I have no idea what went wrong but I spent a few minutes untangling all of my USB cords and I re-plugged it in and re-installed the drivers.
Oddly, I’m getting A LOT worse images with it than I did before it went dead. I’m going to look into deleting everything again and see how that works… it’s just very confusing.
In other news, I’m getting back in the chair on Saturday and getting the rest of the blackwork done on my sleeve. Everything should look VERY cool after the black is done.
I’ll naturally have some pictures up a day or two after it’s done.
Talk to you then.
On Thoughts of College
Here’s something I wrote when talking about “the college experience” with Nick:
- The “college experience” is a huge sham that is as detatched from the “real world” as high school is – just in a different way.
It’s quasi-accountability wrapped around a bare minimum of responsibility marketed as “adulthood”.
All for $20k – $30k a year.
Granted that it’s slightly different from state to state, but that’s pretty much how it works.
All of this stemmed from a conversation on how the youth of America is being deprived any and all ritualistic rites of passage.
If you want to read a GREAT book about people that are taking back these rituals, definately pick up ModCon: The Secret World Of Extreme Body Modification by Shannon Larratt.
You won’t be disappointed!
So Here’s The Scoop…
Tomorrow I’m flying out to Ottawa to spend about a week with Mariah. This is very good news.
We’re going to be driving to Toronto and hang out with the crew at IWasCured on Sunday and then attend a BME bbq on Monday. Both of those things should be extremely cool and we’re both really excited!
We have a few other little chores and errands to take care of in the mix, but it’s all good. It’ll be a busy trip, but a fun one!
So, chances are I won’t be posting another update until around the 22nd, when I return. Don’t miss me too much – I’ll be back!
Busy Lil’ Bee
Ok, so I stayed up ridiculously late last night and fiddled with things throughout the site. I didn’t do any other major changes, but fixed a few aesthetic things and also removed the second webcam pic on the a href=”http://www.crazyted.com/webcam/”>webcam page since I’m no longer running two of them. Hell, I barely run one of them, let alone two.
Actually, I had the first one running a day or two ago and now I’m having an issue with my UBB drivers and the cam isn’t being recognized. I screwed around with it for a while yesterday, but to no avail. When I get that figured out (or it magically fixes itself), I’ll turn that damn cam on to appease all you voyeurs out there.
Tonight I’m heading over to Joe’s to be nerdy and play D&D and then on Sunday morning it’s off to my mom’s to do the whole Mother’s Day thing. I still need to get her something. Oops.
That’s about it for now. Anything else comes up, I’ll be sure to let you know.
Me? Program?
Well, today’s the first day in virtually forever since I’ve done any programming.
If you’ve ever posted a “comment” on my page, you know that when you do, you get an email and you have to follow the link and the comment is set “active”.
Ok, so maybe I’m a bit paranoid. Maybe.
What I’m doing now is making it so that by specifying a variable, the person installing the script (me) can either turn on or off that feature and evoke a confirm email that’s required or have the comments posted immediately.
Keep your fingers crossed… but I’m hoping this works!
PS – Leave comments now that it’s easier!!!
