What To Do With The Gallery…
Well, if anyone has been to my image gallery anytime recently, you’ll notice that virtually every picture in there is HORRIBLY out of date. Most of them are over a year old.
Now, if you come here anywhere close to “regularly” (no matter what the frequency is) you’ll notice that I’ve been uploading images to my diary entries ever since I created that functionality. It’s extremely useful and definately encourages me to upload pics when I have them.
What I will probably end up doing is scrapping my current image gallery and end up creating an interface to my image database so that all of my images that I’ve uploaded will be displayed and can be browsed. As I’m sitting here I can already think of how the programming logic will work. Shouldn’t be much more difficult than how I’m currently doing my diary entries right now… hmmm… this will be fun :D
Btw, I think everyone can thank Nick for the idea to do *something* with my gallery. I think he wanted me to update it, but this will be a lot cooler!
Just For Fun
Here’s a little something just for fun.
I really like skulls… a lot
Where Have I Been?
Well, this past week has been busy. My current roommate is moving out so I’ve been placing ads and just getting the word out that I need a new roommate for Sept 1st.
This weekend and last night I’ve seen about 10 people for the place and I think I’ve made my final decision and I’m going to be calling people back tonight (which won’t be fun, but it’s better than leaving people hanging).
Since I had to get up early this weekend, I didn’t get to catch up on any sleep (since I get very very little during the week) and I’m just exhausted.
I’m pretty sure this weekend I’m going to be meeting with our photographer for the wedding to just drop some details about the pics and get that wrapped up soon. (I know a lot of you have been eager to see pics)
So that’s it in a nutshell. Doesn’t sound like a lot, but it’s been keeping me busy. Add to that the programming and my job and my time has been tapped.
Teaser
Here’s a small teaser. We don’t have all the pics done yet, but they’re being worked on.
For now, hope this ties you all over :)
Double Rainbows and Kissin’ Groundhogs
No, nobody kissed any groundhogs, the two groundhogs were kissing!
Yesterday Mariah and I were married here in Ottawa. I’m not going to say that everything went off without a hitch (believe me, there were hitches), but it definately worked out and I don’t think either of us have any real regrets.
We don’t have any pictures to share yet, but I’m sure over the next week or two we’ll be getting some from the people that took them and our photographer (thank you so much Mel!!) as well.
All of the guests said that they greatly enjoyed the entire ceremony (which was rather alternative, so we had our doubts as to how it’d go over). Also, the food that we had was GREAT – venesin sausage, bison stew, smoked salmon, wild rice salad and a few other dishes. It was just great!
It really was a good time and I’m so happy that we’re together and we have a whole week to do nothing but relax. We’re both so spent that we really need the time to take it easy.
Note: I probably won’t update again until I’m back in Boston.
Last Minute Details
So, it’s Monday and Mariah and I have been wrapping up last minute details for the wedding. Almost everything’s been falling into place with little hassle. I’ll be leaving on Wednesday (2 days), so I’m naturally extremely excited!
In unrelated news, I’ve been getting a webserver running at home. It’s currently unable to accept outside requests for some reason, but I’ll work on that probably when I get back from Ottawa as I doubt I’ll have time to screw around with it until then.
Oh – and IAM (for those of you that know what that is) is down for a couple of days for maintanence. I guess that means I’ll have to find a way to entertain myself until it’s up and running. That’s no fun. Looks like I’m going to have to work at work.
You can find me via MSN or AIM and possibly in the BME chat room randomly until Wednesday.
Weekly Update
Well, it looks like I’ve been updating about weekly lately. Sorry about that.
This week has been very productive. Mariah and I have been wrapping up the little last minute details of the wedding and the final touches are looking rather solid. (you can get an up-to-date countdown of when the wedding is in the countdown window to the left)
In semi-related-wedding news, I spent a lot of time yesterday cleaning my room and getting rid of a lot of shit that I simply didn’t need any longer. I need to make room for her to bring her stuff in and I had to start somewhere. Everything’s looking a lot better already!
Also last night, I had to cut a flap of skin from the inside of my lip where my labret flatback is. It was just getting irritated all day long, every day, and had to go. So I got a scalple from some friends (as there’s a HUGE difference between a medical scalple and X-acto blades!) and I removed it. It wasn’t too difficult though a bit akward holding my own lip down. I really could have done with another hand last night!
In a more programming sense, I’ve spent a lot of time recently making the diary pages that you’re reading now portable. Not the content, but the coding behind it that allows me to update my diary online and upload images and allows other people to add their comments. I’m in the final stages of wrapping everything up and I’ve had a few friends really pick at things and help me make it a lot better than it would have been. The only requirements are PHP 4.0+ (with GD), mySQL (with the ability to add your own tables) and the ability to follow simple, step-by-step instructions to do the minimal installation. Keep posted. It should be done soon!
And that’s about it… in a minimalistic way.
I’ll be in Ottawa in 6 days (departing on the 24th) – I can’t wait!!!
Busy – Yes, Busy…
It’s been a busy 2 weeks for me. I’ve spent a lot of time at work and last weekend I was in Newport. This week coming up should prove itself to be another hectic one. I’ve pretty much dedicated myself to get all of the small loose ends for the wedding taken care of. All of the major ones are done, it’s just the little ones that need to be wrapped up.
I also have to add to that a lot of cleaning that I just hasn’t been done for too long – which is what happens when you have two guys living in an apartment… we’re just messy.
In other news, my conches are doing very well. They got rather angry for a couple of days, but all that’s been taken care of. But other than that, the past few weeks have pretty much just been work and trying to relax with what little downtime I’ve had – which hasn’t been much.
Oh well… it’ll be done with in a few weeks!
Yeah, I’m Alive…
Ok, so it’s been way too long since I last posted here – sorry about that. Things have been extremely busy with work and just general chaos. It’s good though since I’ve been productive.
Quick run down of a few things…
The Boston Tattoo Convention was amazing. It was a great time and I got to see a lot of friends and met a bunch of people. Next year should be even better. While I was there, Ryan at Precision Body Arts punched both of my conches at 2g. They’re doing well and I’ll post a couple pics below. Everyone has agreed that they look great.
I’ve started capturing video with my camera and doing some simple editing. It’s a lot of fun, though I’m nowhere close to “good” at it yet. I really need to learn how to compress the file sizes more and still keep good quality. I have about 6 minutes of footage from me getting my conches punched. The full res version is about 25 Meg (ouch, I know) and the low res version is about 7 meg. If you want to take a look, I can send you the URL no problem.
So, there’s about 26 days until the wedding – that’s great! We’re both really excited! We’ve taken care of all of the major odds & ends and we’re pretty sure that we’re not forgetting anything. Tonight we’re going to do some major “checklisting” and make sure there’s nothing we’re forgetting.
So, that’s about it. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but it’s been keeping me busy! I’ll get back to updating more frequently – promise!
Today was a good day…
Well, today has been just a *good* day all around. I got some good news in the mail along with called the jewelry shop about some tusks they’re making for Mariah and I and they should be in the mail tomorrow AM. Mariah also got some important mail that I sent to her last week. Add all of that to the fact that I found out this morning that I’m getting a free tshirt from my image submission to BME a couple of weeks ago and my general productivity today and it’s been a good day all around. Free tshirts rock!
On top of all of that, I did some food shopping and I did laundry earlier tonight. I don’t know how I did it, but I took care of everything by 9:00 tonight and I’m just relaxing now.
Damn I’m good. :)
