Spiderman 3

Saw Spiderman 3 last night after work. I liked it. Certain parts of the plot seemed somewhat forced/contrived, but whatever. It was graphically very appealing and entertaining.

Bruce Campbell’s part was AWESOME – definitely my favorite out of the three movies.

I probably won’t run out to get the DVD when it hits the shelves, but I’m not angry after watching the movie (like I was – and still am – about X-Men 3).

Wake The Earth

Holy productive Saturday!

I got up at about 8 and headed over to the post office to ship out some books. I recently signed up with BookMooch and I had some books to send. I think it’s a great idea to keep books circulating to people that want or need them.

Not too much later, Corinne wanted to head to a flower sale that a local school has every year and we picked up some flowers for our porch. While she was getting them all nice and pretty, I hung some curtains in the office and relaxed a bit. I also took a few pictures that I posted below. Nothing fancy – just some macro photos of flowers in the yard.

After that, we headed down to an annual festival in JP called Wake The Earth. Corinne missed it last year and I’ve never been. It was bigger than we expected, but a lot of fun. It was really great seeing so many of the people out and about from the community and just having a good time. Given that it’s literally one block from our apartment, we made two trips down there.

By 4:30, we’d done a whole lot, ran into various friends and made our place look a lot nicer.

..and there’s still the whole evening left!

Yatta

When I got up this morning and looked out the window next to my computer, I noticed something that I hadn’t seen in a long time – green leaves. I really have to say that it made me smile and brightened my mood. [find out more about that link here]

Since it’s going to be a nice day, I popped out the windows in the jeep but left the top up since it’s still cold at 7am when I leave to get into work. Maybe I’ll drop the top and head out for a while on lunch to enjoy the sunshine.

Horray spring!

Much Less Sick

I spent yesterday working from home in a bit of a fog due to cold medicine. It works well, but it fucks me up – so I just picked away at some stuff remotely. It’s a very nice option to have. I’m feeling tons better today with just a runny nose and very minor sinus pressure. Hopefully everything will be behind me by Friday. Not because I’m doing any thing big this weekend… just because I don’t want to be sick anymore.

In other news, I’m seriously considering taking a photography course. I have one in mind that I’m going to be looking into after I get home. Ultimately, I want to get into underwater photography and expand my skills to take really good photos while diving. My current setup is very amateur and lets me get some OK shots, but I’m not happy with just “OK shots”. So I figure I might as well get some real education on photography and build up my skills from there. I’m sure I could futz my way through it with years of trial and error – but why take the hard route when the information’s already there?

I just need to invest a certain amount of time and capital into it to get something useful out of the process.

Here goes.

Officially Sick

I’m officially sick. I had two days of a sore throat which it appears is over. I’m now in the slight congestion and phlegm stage with a small bout of coughing.

I don’t think it’s going to long and I hope that’s the case.

Yesterday was nice – we went for a walk around JP when it was clear in the afternoon and stopped by JP Licks. I got a great strawberry frappe that really made my throat feel better. We also did some running around and I kicked some ass at Scrabble.

Oh, and I shaved my head again.

Not sure if anything’s on the menu for today. I think it’s going to be rather slow, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’m just propped up on the couch, watching some trashy TV and relaxing. I can rock this for a while longer.

I Like Squirrels

I wrapped up a project at work that’s consumed the last 3 weeks of my time. I’m SO GLAD that it’s over. Granted it means that I’m going back to more boring stuff, but at least it’s not annoying and boring.

After I got home my knee started to hurt something fierce. It’s feeling better now, but still not 100%. I’m just going to finish watching Mythbusters (a whole special on Ninjas!!!) and head to bed. I’ll need the sleep since I’m still a bit worn from last night.

Oh… I like squirrels. They’re cute and I can watch them all day long. I’ll try to get a picture of the one guy that doesn’t have any hair on his tail. I feel bad for that one.

I Want Candy

Saw mc chris last night at the Middle East. It was a good show.

He was opening for Piebald (don’t know who they are). When we got in, some opening band was finishing up their last song (thankfully – it was horrible!). The next band, who I think were called House of Fools weren’t bad. Not quite “my thing”, but it didn’t make me want to kill babies. mc chris was up next and put on a great show.

I’m exhausted right now, but either that’ll go away or it won’t. Meh. I’ll deal.

Now to work…

10000

Looks like tomorrow I’ll hit the 10,000 mile mark with my jeep. On average, I’m pulling about a thousand miles per month, which isn’t too bad. It sure beats the hell out of my old car when I was working in Lynnfield. That was putting on some 60+ miles per day just for work.

Speaking of my jeep, I got the hard top switched out with the soft top. Since it was such a beautiful day out, it was nice getting to drive around with the top down for a while. I think tomorrow I’m going to take off the doors and give that a go. I’ve been waiting a while and I’m excited for it.

Given the great weather, I also got out on my uni for a bit today. I’m back in the “out of shape” category, but that shouldn’t be too hard to remedy with regular effort. I just hope the weather continues to improve – because today was great after a really shitty winter.

Destroy All Monsters

Yesterday consisted of a lot of Super Paper Mario and a break to go grocery shopping. Super Paper Mario is still really fun and grocery shopping is still a pain in the ass… but necessary.

The big plan for tonight is to put away the dishes that I put into the dishwasher before leaving today, do at least a load of laundry and put away the laundry that’s clean but unfolded. Other than that, probably just relax and watch TV. We’ll see what happens after the productive stuff is taken care of.

Not sure what’s going on this weekend. Might be going out on Saturday night, but I don’t have any idea about the specifics. I might want to see if I can get my soft top on my jeep since the weather is behaving. I’ll have to call my dad and see if he has time to help me since the top is in his garage and I’ll need some assistance getting the hard top off for sure.

Sunday is totally open right now.

All-in-all, it looks like it should be a good mix. I just need to get through one more day of work and at 3:30 I’m out.

Let’s Shake Some Dust

Last night Corinne and I finished up watching Carnivale. I was a bit disappointed with the “ending”, but that’s because it was supposed to be a season finale, not a series finale. Either way, the series was great and I wish I had a few more seasons to watch… but that’s just not going to happen.

Last night I managed to knee my nightstand. I have no idea why, but I brought my knee up rather high (imagine if you were trying to knee someone in the chest) and I happened to hit the very corner of my nightstand. Needlessly to say, that woke me up and it hurt. I now have a scrape and a small scab where I probably bled a tiny bit, but couldn’t be bothered to check it out last night. Annoying.

I think I’m going to see MC Chris in Providence this weekend. He’s also playing in Boston (The Middle East, for those that are interested) next week. Should be fun. I missed him the last time he was around, but not this time.

If the weather would finally break, I think this spring is shaping up rather well.
