New Mac – Day Two Impressions

Despite my previous post’s bitchiness (which was squarely directed at the employees and atmosphere of the Apple Store, not their products), I’ve gotten along quite well for an absolute novice Mac user.

There’s all sorts of little things that I’m learning – like when to use the Control key vs the Command Key, the buttons to minimize and close windows is on the left, how can I possibly get along without a right mouse button, etc. – but I think I’m progressing well. I’ve discovered a lot of things that I like about the unified core applications. Some things that I never would have thought of make a ton of sense – like having an RSS reader integrated into your mail application (up until now I’ve been using Sage, a FF plugin).

So as I continue to acquaint myself with my new expensive toy, I’m confident that I’ll be able to adjust without too much pain or resistance. Just going to be a matter of time, which isn’t that big of a deal. The only real thing that I need to do is make sure I have all of the tools that I need for work, which will be a little bit of effort, but worth it.
