I Hate Fedex

I’ve hated Fedex for some time, and I doubt my opinion will be changed for quite some time… if ever.

My DVD player arrived yesterday and it was being sent via Fedex. It arrived without incident, but when they dropped it off, they left it on my front step. Now, this isn’t a big deal except for two things:

  1. My front step is about 6″ from the road
  2. The box was left directly under a sign that says “Please leave all packages on the side porch. Thank you”

The front porch, by the way, is about 25 steps away.

Now, I know that according to their jobs, they don’t “need” to do that. But the whole “customer service” bit means that if a customer is asking you to take an extra few steps to leave their expensive stuff in a “more safe” location, then it’s something you should do.

UPS and USPS have always brought stuff around back without any hesitation, much of it being heavier and more awkward than the package yesterday. Why is it so hard for the Fedex guy to do the same?
